As some of you know, our website gets visitors from all over the world. Recently, we had a reader contact us asking for help in choosing a roofing contractor in Allentown, PA for a roof replacement.
These types of reviews can take up to 30 hours each, so it is impossible for us to help everyone who asks for it, but for some reason, this reader caught my attention (and pulled a few strings on my heart) so we wanted to help.
If you are new here, please note that my company is located in Alabama and we do not serve the Allentown area. Therefore, you a receiving a review where I have no incentive other than to tell you the truth.
How Do We Identify The Best Roofers In Allentown,PA?
1. Speak With Local Roofing Suppliers
This is by far one of my favorite methods because the people who are selling the materials know EVERYONE’s reputation in Allentown. For this article we contacted ABC Supply, GulfEagle and Beacon Building Products. All three of these roofing supply companies are located in Allentown and were kind enough to help us formulate our list. Because all of the roofing companies in Allentown, PA gives these companies business, they requested we not publish exact quotes, and we have respected their wishes.
2. Analyze Reviews On Google, Facebook and Yelp
This sounds easy, but in reality is the hardest part of our review process. You see, companies can often buy reviews and/or recruit friends and family to review their company. You really have to analyze who is writing the review, and if they appear to be a real person.
Below I will show you an example of a real review and one that might be fake.

This review looks real to me. It is a compliment on the quality of work while also addressing some mistakes the company made. A fake review would be one extreme or the other.

Notice how the person used the fake name “Happy Customer” and in many years only has left one review. This is a red flag.
The process to go through all of these reviews, and then try to contact the person who left the review takes hours for each city we review, but it is important to us that you choose the right roofing company in Allentown.
Note: You’ll notice I did not include the BBB and that is because that company has been known to extort small businesses for money in exchange for reviews. We don’t recommend them at all.
3. We ask the residents of Allentown who they trust for their roofing needs.
This takes a long time to aggregate the data, but it is well worth it. We post in Allentown facebook groups , we post in the Allentown Nextdoor Page and contact local city officials to find out who has been in good standing with them and who has had trouble in the past. Regardless, this is also a great way to find out who is the best roofing contractor in Allentown, PA.

How Much Does It Cost To Replace A Roof In Allentown, PA?
Roof replacement costs in Allentown,PA meaning removing your current roofing material and replacing it, is about $6,800 to $12,000.
Removing the roof is hard work and costs around $2 to $5 per square foot removal. Roofers can sometimes charge by the hour for this process at around $40 to $80 per hour but this is rare, it is normally included in the total roof price. Furthermore, if your roof has a rotted roofing deck it can add a few thousand dollars to the replacement cost.
It’s important to know that removal is a big part of the entire replacement process, as taking shingles off of a rooftop is a difficult task for anyone – professional or otherwise. Therefore, a contractor’s rate can fluctuate based on the material being removed, your location, and the complexity of the overall work.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Most Common Roof In Allentown?
The most common material used in Allentown are asphalt shingles and TPO. These are popular because they are cheaper to install. Asphalt shingles can be reinforced with fiberglass or organic materials (cellulose) without changing the appearance of the shingle. We have also seen a slight uptick in the amount of wood roofs and synthetic slate.
How Long Do Roofs Last In Allentown, PA?
It really depends on the location of the roof, the materials used to build it and the moisture content in the area. In wooded areas that hold a lot of moisture, it is common to see 50-year shingles last less than 20 years. However, the opposite can also be true. If the area is open and moisture can escape, I have seen cheap shingles last much longer than they should have.
